Seminar AbstractMaking the Transition from Rheology to Biology, Following the Path of Arnie FredricksonUniversity of Michigan Thursday, November 19th 1:25 PM I describe experimental and computational methods for studying rheology and polymer dynamics at the single molecule level, including DNA and protein dynamics. These methods are applied to the study of how proteins interact with DNA in cellular processes such as DNA repair, transcription, etc. Finally, I show how computational methods developed for these problems can also be applied to the analysis of cellular motility, focusing on the flagella-driven motion of E Coli bacteria. |
