Hong Wei Defends
Hong defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled, "Optical Properties of Silicon Inverse Opals," on 1/30/07 and became Dr. Hong Wei. The group celebrated with Hong and wished him well as he starts his new job at Kent Optronics in upstate New York.

Kurtis Leschkies Wins Scholarship
Kurtis was one of three students chosen to receive a scholarship awarded by the Particle Scoiety of Minnesota. The winners were selected based on their exemplary academic record and research in areas of particle science and engineering. Each recipient will receive $1000 and will be invited to present his/her research during a lunch meeting of the Particle Society membership in spring of 2007.
