This course addresses thermodynamic properties of real substances. Topics cover equilibrium and stability in one-component systems, thermodynamics of multi-component mixtures, estimation of Gibbs free energy and fugacity of a component in a mixture, phase equilibrium in mixtures, and chemical equilibrium and the balance of equations for chemically reacting systems. Four recitation sessions per week consisting of lecture reviews and discussion of homework assignments.
