Daoutidis delivers Covestro Lecture at Carnegie Mellon University

Nov. 27, 2018 - Professor Prodromos Daoutidis delivered the Covestro Lecture in Process Systems Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) on November 15. This lecture series was established by the Department of Chemical Engineering at CMU in 1998 initially as the Bayer Lecture series. The title of Daoutidis' lecture was "Controlling and Optimizing Complex Plants: New Perspectives from Network Theory." In it he described recent results from his group on the use of community detection for decomposing complex systems or optimization problems into weakly interacting subsystems/subproblems which provide optimal architectures for distributed control and optimization.
