- Professor Jeffrey Derby and Professor Nathan Mara each recently delivered invited lectures at THERMEC'2018, International Conference on Processing & Manufacturing of Advanced Materials: Processing, Fabrication, Properties, Applications, held in Paris, France, from July 8-13, 2018. THERMEC’2018 is the tenth international conference on advanced materials, providing a biennial forum for researchers around the globe to present papers on recent advances in the overall field of science and technology of processing and manufacturing of advanced materials.
Derby lectured in a session on Neutron and X-ray Studies of Materials, with a talk entitled, “Analysis of Bridgman Growth of Scintillator Crystals via Neutron Imaging and Finite-Element Modeling,” that featured research performed under a DOE/NNSA sponsored project with collaborators from Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Los Alamos National Lab, and UC Berkeley.
Mara’s presentation, “Stress-Strain Response of Irradiated Metallic Materials via Spherical Nanoindentation,” was presented in a session on Materials Under Extreme Conditions, research supported by a DOE/Nuclear Engineering Enabling Technologies grant with collaborators from Los Alamos National Laboratory, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Nevada, Reno, and UC Berkeley.
