In Memoriam: Herbert S. Isbin, Professor Emeritus

May 15, 2018 - Professor Emeritus Herbert S. Isbin, age 98 of St. Louis Park, passed away on May 12, 2018. He received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Washington and earned a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1947. He served on the CEMS faculty for 33 years (1950-1983). He was also appointed by President Eisenhower to the Atomic Energy Commission and was a member of Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards. He wrote one of the most internationally respected and widely used textbooks, Introductory Nuclear Reactor Theory and published more than 75 professional publications. A funeral was held on May 15 at Beth El Synagogue in Saint Louis Park.
