- Associate Professor Nathan Mara is among a group of recipients of the TMS Structural Materials Division JOM Best Paper Award. The award-winning paper is titled, “Deformation Mechanism Map of Cu/Nb Nanoscale Metallic Multilayers as a Function of Temperature and Layer Thickness.” Co-authors of this work, which investigated the performance of metallic nanocomposites at high temperatures, include Miguel Alberto Mencius, Miguel Castillo-Rodriguez, Javier Llorca, and Jon Molina-Aldareguia from the IMDEA Materials Institute (Spain), and Irene Beyerlein from the University of California, Santa Barbara. This nomination was approved by the TMS Structural Materials Division Award Committee and the Editorial Advisors Committees.
The award recognizes the most notable paper published based on structural materials in the preceding year's JOM. Formal presentation of the award will be made in San Antonio, Texas during the 148th TMS Annual Meeting on March 11.
